As everyone knows, Turkey is a piece of land located on earthquake fault lines. For years, earthquakes have been a factor influencing our lives.

It is possible to create earthquake fault lines, to determine earthquake risks with these maps, to reveal the trends of earthquakes in line with the analysis, to take precautions as a result of the researches and examinations, and to observe earthquakes in many other aspects and the formation of different models.

Based on this, the earthquakes that occurred in the last 25 years in Turkey were mapped in the form of time series.

Earthquakes of 2.5 magnitude and above are taken into account.

USGS (United States Geological Survey) Earthquake Catalog was used to obtain earthquake data. You can access the data under the earthquake and other hazard category you want to obtain from this database.

After downloading the data in the format you want, it is necessary to make it available in the GIS program. (Note: I recommend using it in .csv format.)

And then, using the geographical data of earthquakes (latitude, longitude) in GIS software, shapefile creation was performed in point format.

Basemap is selected by choosing the one you want from the basemaps in the QGIS software.

In order to see the temporal change, our earthquake data are adjusted on a time basis.

Depending on your desire, you can adjust the earthquake size and shape from symbology, labels options.

Note: I shared the tutorial for creating time-based maps in QGIS software for those who are curious.

As a result, I share the result of the project with you.
